Dogs can unanimously be called 'Man's best friend'. Unfortunately, we humans dont seem to reciprocate the love we so unconditionally receive from our canine and feline companions. A wailing injured dog or people kicking or stoning a dog isnt a sight unseen. Thousands are killed by speeding vehicles every year and many others are abandoned by their owners. And all this happens due to mere inconvenience and at times, just for callous pleasure. Organisations like IDA( In Defence of Animals) provide a safe haven for these ailing cats and dogs and provide them the required treatment and rehabilitation. It is an honour for Leo Club of Juhu and its members to associate and assist this organisation in easing their financial constraints. IDA has over 500 sick dogs and 75 cats at all times and their treatment and maintenance is a costly ordeal. Our visit to IDA enlightened us about the plight of these animals and informed us about how we could contribute towards this noble cause in cash and/or kind. The members deposited dog food, cat food and other supplies required daily by IDA. Following that we visited various wards where dogs, cats, puppies and kitties were being treated. Our last four legged acquaintance was a dog which was to be adopted the very next day. The project then concluded on this positive note.
